Being a long time in the storage industry, we have experience with almost all media types, densities and manufacturers. As a special service we offer to convert data from any tape to a modern tape format or to CD/DVD.

Using an in-house designed system, a variety of media and data formats can be converted or duplicated. Conversions can be performed from one type of media to another including tape to tape, and tape to CD/DVD.

We utilize strict quality control procedures to guarantee an accurate conversion.

Hans Knies e. K. Unternehmensberatung guarantees the confidentiality of the data that you provide. No copies of media are retained. All printed material and magnetic media will be returned or destroyed.

Format (to identify the media type):  

• track: 800bpi NRZI, 1600 bpi PE, 3200bpi DPE, 6250bpi GCR; open reel

• 18/36 track: 3480/3490 und 3490E cartridge

• 128/256 and 384 track: 3590/3590E cartridge

• labeled and unlabeled tapes; ASCII or EBCDIC

• SEG-B and SEG-Y format for seismic applications

• other formats on request

Data media:  CD or DVD+R media, incl. laserprint/lightscribe-description and single caddy  

The data copy service includes:

• read the existing files 1:1 and group them together to fill up the CD/DVD capacity

• write the files on CD/DVD

• verify readability, combatibility and completeness by reading the media in 2 separat drives from different manufacturers

• print labels on CD/DVD with laserprint technology

• insert media in single caddy

optional services:

• Additional 2nd or 3rd copy, recommendes for external datacenter, disaster recovery etc.

• repair and reconstruction of damaged files/tapes

• conversion to other media types
